The IFOCE encourages communication, cooperation, and uniformity
in the supervision and regulation of competitive eating. Goals
of the IFOCE include, but are not limited to, the following:
• to establish a fair and equitable rating systems for the various
competitions, including promulgation of procedures for the recognition
of champions;
• to promote safety measures for participants in the conduct of
matches and to ensure that only individuals over the age of 18
compete in speed eating matches;
• to establish procedures for the interchange of information among
members regarding rules and other official measures taken by members;
• to establish and maintain eating records in events sanctioned by the
IFOCE;
• to study and encourage the development of new categories of
competitive eating, specifically with investigation into the possibility
of a liquid-centric event, excluding soup or alcohol;
• to compile, categorize and make available to fans of the sport
a complete history of competitive eating along with an archive
of photos and other historic material;
• to coordinate and control sponsorships for the contest;
• to develop and run an IFOCE Eat-Off, the world championship
of eating; and
• to establish uniform procedures for the conduct of championship
contests and for the mutual recognition of contracts and records
pertaining to such contests.
