Old Town Lewisville World Tamale Eating Championship

Some of the world’s finest eaters converged in Lewisville, TX, on September 2 for the World Tamale-Eating Championship. This contest was be part of the Maverick Bancshares Western Day in Old Town Lewisville, which has been a popular event in the area for many years. The competition tamales were once again provided by the Dallas Tortilla and Tamale Factory.

Eater X won with 51 tamales, and took the tamale title away from Chip Simpson, who did not show up to defend it. In fact, Janus shattered the previous record of 41 tamales, set by Simpson in May of this year. Rich LeFevre placed a very close 2nd with 50, also breaking the record by a mile. In 3rd was Seaver the Achiever with 30.
