PIG SKIN EATING CONTEST READIES AMERICA FOR SPIKE TV’S MAJOR LEAGUE EATING HALFTIME SHOW

Major League Eating will conduct the world’s first pig skin eating contest on Thursday, January 31st in New York City. The Pig Skin Eating World Championship will feature eight Major League Eaters who will consume multiple football-sized portions of fried pig skin. Each portion will weigh 14.5 ounces, a weight equivalent to that of the average NFL Football. Spike has placed a $5,000 cash purse on the big event.

“America is extremely passionate about football, and the Super Bowl is arguably the biggest eating holiday of the year,” said George Shea, Chairman of Major League Eating. “I believe that a Major League Eater can consume the equivalent of 10 footballs in just six minutes time. I don’t know this to be fact, however, and that is unsettling.”

On Sunday, February 3rd, Spike will air Major League Eating’s Chowdown Championships during the halftime of the Super Bowl. The show will feature 16 of the worlds top eaters devouring hundreds of hard boiled eggs and dozens of whole hams.

Shea added: “The battle between the perfect New England Patriots and the hopeful New York Giants should be epic, but I believe the World’s purest athletes will be those competing on Spike during halftime.”

The Pig Skin Eating World Championship will occur at 12 noon in New York City on Thursday, January 31st at the Hawaiian Tropic Zone in the heart of Times Square at 729 Seventh Avenue, New York, NY.

All eaters must be at least 18. Registration is now closed.
