Kolache Factory World Kolache Eating Championship

Location: Houston, TX
Date: 09-04-2009
Winner: Joey Chestnut

Joey Chestnut dusted himself off after a 1-ounce rib loss to Pat Bertoletti just two days before the two Major League Eating titans faced off in the World Kolache Eating Championships presented by The Kolache Factory. Taking place on the field of Minute Maid Park after an efficient Astros win against the defending world series champion Phillies, Chestnut reigned supreme in the 8-minute kolache affair. Chestnut, defending his 2007 Kolache Eating title (last year's contest was unable to take place due to inclement weather), downed 45 tasty sausage & cheese kolaches to win the hefty $4,500 first place prize. Bertoletti took second place and $2,500 with 42 kolaches eaten. Humble Bob (31 kolaches) and Hall Hunt (27 kolaches) posted third and fourth place finishes, respectively.

The marked the second of seven Major League Eating contests nationwide in a six-day span starting September 2nd.
