Smoke's Poutinerie World Poutine Eating Championship

On May 22, MLE headed north of the border to Toronto, Ontario, Canada for the highly anticipated Smoke's Poutinerie World Poutine Eating Championship. The event featured poutine (french fries, gravy and cheese curds) from Smoke's Poutinerie along with nine Major League Eaters and four Canadian Amateurs all vying to be the first-ever World Poutine-Eating Champion.

Media members crowded the table 5-6 deep to get a glimpse of the action. (One onlooker was overheard saying he hadn't seen so much media for an event in Canada since the Olympics earlier in the year.)

In the end, all cameras were pointed towards Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti, who ate 13 pounds of Smoke's Poutinerie poutine in 10 minutes to take the title and add to his resume of world records. Gravy Brown finished in 2nd place with 10.5 lbs, Buffalo Reeves 3rd w/9.5 lbs and Pete Davekos took 4th w/8.5 lbs. A champion was crowned and a nation was transformed...MLE looks forward to returning to Canada in the near future.
