Pizza Hut Pizza Eating Chow-Lenge

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Date: 06-05-2010
Winner: Joey Chestnut

The controversy over who is the world pizza-eating champion has finally been resolved after Joey "Jaws" Chestnut defeated Chicago's Pat Bertoletti in the 2010 Pizza Hut Chow-Lenge. Chestnut ate 41 slice to Bertoletti's 36 in the 10-minute contest from Sony Studios in Los Angeles.

The head-to-head battle saw two of the world's top eaters face off over their favorite 14-inch pizzas from Pizza Hut.

The Chow-Lenge set out to crown an undisputed pizza-eating champion and it did just that in Joey Chestnut. Entering the contest, the #1-ranked Chestnut held the record in the 14-inch pizza category (45 slices) while Bertoletti, ranked #4, held two different pizza-eating titles: the monster 24-inch pizza (seven and one half slices) and the 16-inch pizza (47 slices). Although Bertoletti is from Chicago and known in eating circles as "Deep Dish," it was Chestnut who saw his arm raised in victory.

Portions of the contest will be broadcast on the Spike TV Guys Choice awards airing June 20 at 10:00 pm.
