Verizon VoiceWing Battle - Seattle Qualifier

Verizon hosted the first "Verizon VoiceWing Battle" chicken wing eating contest at Sporty's Beef and Brew in Everett, WA.

The battle will feature three qualifiers leading up to a final championship and offering a total $14,000 in prize money throughout the circuit. The top five finishers in each qualifier will be offered a seat at the championship event which takes place November 12 in Boston.

Competitive eating phenom Joey Chestnut continued his meteoric rise to the upper echelons of the sport by defeating a talented field of eaters. Chestnut ate 4.51 lbs of Buffalo wings in 10 minutes, handily defeating Badlands Booker (3.63 lbs) and Humble Bob Shoudt (3.53 lbs), who finished second and third respectively.

Chestnut will go into the Nov. 12 Verizon VoiceWing Battle World Championship in Boston, MA as one of the favorites.
