Walter Hamilton devoured 12 grilled cheese sandwiches in front of thousands of cheering bikers in Sturgis, SD to win a qualifer of the 2005 GoldenPalace.net World Grilled Cheese Eating Championship. Hamilton wins $1,000, and earns a spot in the GoldenPalace.com Finals, where $20,000 will be on the line.
Steve Nowak and Rob Rolls Boyce finished second and third, winning $500 and $250 respectively.
The contest was held on the main stage of the Buffalo Chip Campground before the Toby Keith contest. It was the second official stop of the GoldenPalace.net World Grilled Cheese-Eating Championship 15-event circuit.
