After 10 minutes of Major League Eating action, Pat “Deep Dish” Bertoletti was crowned champion when he ate 26 Maid-Rite loose meat sandwiches, setting a world record at the Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf. Bob “Notorious B.O.B.” Shoudt was a close second, eating 23 sandwiches. It was Bertoletti's third win at an Isle of Capri property in 2010, breaking a three-way tie entering Bettendorf with Shoudt and Sonya "the Black Widow" Thomas.
The event marked the eighth and final event of the 2010 season at Isle of Capri properties. Additional events were held in Biloxi, MS (Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwiches won by Shout), Davenport, IA (Catfish won by Thomas), Lula, MS (Ribs won by Shoudt), Boonville, MO (Boneless Buffalo Wings won by Tim Janus), Pompano Park, FL (Pickles won by Bertoletti), Black Hawk, CO (Rocky Mountain Oysters won by Bertoletti) and Caruthersville, MO (Moon Pies won by Thomas).
The first contest for 2011 will be the 2nd Annual World Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwich Eating Championship on January 8th at Isle Casino Hotel in Biloxi, Miss.
