Major League Eating 2012 is off and running!! Although the slate was wiped clean from 2011, the results stayed 'Pat' as the world's #2-ranked eater Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti ate 31 Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwiches at the Isle Casino Hotel Biloxi to win defend his world title and win $1,500.
Bertoletti, who racked up an astounding 18 victories in 2011, showed little sign of letting up throughout the 10-minute contest. PB&B world record holder (36 in '10) Bob "Notorious B.O.B." Shoudt ate 27.5 PB&Bs to take second place and $1,250.
#7-ranked Adrian Morgan from Baton Rouge separated himself from a deep field and ate 24 PB&Bs for 3rd place. Morgan, an unknown in 2010 when he made his MLE debut appearance at the Isle Casino Hotel Biloxi, has surged through the rankings in his short career.
The Isle Biloxi PB&B Sandwich Eating World Championship has been held during Elvis' birthday weekend each of the last three years as a way to honor 'The King' though one of his favorite meals: the peanut butter & banana sandwich. The event is one of several Major League Eating events held at Isle of Capri casino properties across the country.
