In 2006, the Nisei Week Gyoza Eating Championship went down to the wire as Joey Chestnut edged out Sonya Thomas with 212 chicken gyoza to 210. Major League Eating will be back in LA on August 23 to determine if anyone will be able to break the record held by the world's number one gurgitator.

Nisei Week is a nine-day festival in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo district which highlights Japanese and Japanese American culture and 2008 marks its 68th year. This year's festival will be held August 16-24.

Trivia: Nisei are second generation Japanese-Americans.
